  • ● Tall Pot
  • ● Gel Candle Wax

  • *Gel candles require zinc-cored wicks in order to reach a temperature that’s hot enough to melt.
  • **Fragrances for gel wax candles must be non-polar and have a flash point of at least 170°F. Using any other kind of fragrance can be hazardous.

Supplies for Soy-Wax Strawberries:

  • ● Soy Wax
  • ● Red Liquid Candle Dye
  • ● Strawberry Embed Silicone Mold

Directions:

First, Make the Wax Strawberries

In a pot, melt soy wax over low heat. Once melted, add in 2–3 drops of red liquid candle dye, and then stir until it’s completely red.

Next, slowly pour the wax into the cavities of the strawberry embed mold, filling out as many strawberry embeds as you see fit.

Wait around 20 to 40 minutes, until the wax fillings harden. Once cooled and hardened, gently break them out and smoothen their edges if needed. But be careful: the temperature of your hands can slightly melt the soy. Set strawberries aside for now.

Now, Make the Candle

Add hot glue or a glue dot to the bottom center of the jar, and then take a zinc candle wick that’s attached to a wick tab, and affix its base to the glue. Wedge two chopsticks or skewers between the wick to help it stay secured.

Put your gel candle wax into a tall pot. Slowly melt wax over low to medium heat. Once wax is well melted, keep it at a simmer.

If using liquid candle dye, add in 3–4 drops, and stir until it is entirely one color. Now, add in fragrance(s) of choice, stirring until well incorporated.

Slowly pour some of the wax into the jar to keep the wick secured and to prevent bubbles, just high enough to cover the wick bottom at about ¾ of an inch.

Wait 5 minutes to ensure that the wick is firmly secured inside the wax, and then slowly pour the remaining wax into the jar. Use a lighter to burn away any additional bubbles, but be sure not to touch the wick!

As the now-cooled wax is still hardening, adorn the top of the candle with the wax strawberries.
